Weekend Wishing

Happy Monday folks! I hope you did something exciting (or not if you didn’t want to) this weekend. In case you were wondering (even if you weren’t I’m still going to tell you) I went out on a long abandoned family tradition of visiting our chunk of forest in Northern California. When I was younger my family used to go out almost every weekend to get away from the city. Then life happened and we had to limit our excursions to about once or twice a year. But nevertheless, it is not forgotten and definitely still a beloved spot for my family and me.

Obviously I took the opportunity to put my “professional photographing skills” and super expensive camera (my iPhone) to good use. Check out how adorable my siblings are who actually got along long enough for me to take a couple snaps!

Of course it simply isn’t a trip to the forest if you don’t have a bonfire and go mushroom picking whether or not there are mushrooms around.

My favorite part is always at night when the darkness creeps in and covers us like a blanket. If you step a couple feet away from the bonfire and look up into the sky you are greeted with the most magnificent site that is sure to take your breath away. If you have any reason to travel away from the city, it should be for the night sky. There are so many stars visible it makes the sky seem almost within reach, and maybe if you’re patient enough you will be lucky to spot a shooting star or two!

And with that I will leave you, hopefully you are inspired to drive out of the city to make a couple wishes and breathe the air that dances freely in wide spans of unspoiled nature.
