January 2, 2016
Holy moly! Can you believe we have made it to 2016? No? Me neither. Just a few years ago we were all freaking out about the Mayan world apocalypse prediction. When in reality it just turned out that some calendar maker took a break and never quite got around to finishing it. Way to scare the entire human race. But we obviously all know that the world won’t end until God says it will. So until then, let’s make this year a fabulous one!
To start off the year, just like everyone else, Oxie and I drove up North to hang out in the snow. Honestly, if a blanket of white wasn’t so pretty and didn’t look so good in pictures, I would never endure the cold to go to the snow. I never dress warm enough no matter how many jackets I put on, and my toes always freeze over.
Oxie’s sister Olesya asked us (very professional photographers) to take pictures of her and her husband. Since they were already staying in Incline Village we joined them there.
While they were getting ready, we decided to take the fifteen minute walk to the beach. Obviously we stopped to take pictures every chance we could.
Word of advice, don’t touch the fence. Ever. You will get a splinter. And it will hurt. And you will not be able to get it out until the next day.
After successfully avoiding a slip-fall-die tragedy while walking on iced over sidewalks, we finally made it to the beach. Which by the way was freezing. As if it could get any colder. Mother nature loves to prove me wrong.
So you may think it strange that I took a photo of a trash bin, but look closer! The pun is spectacular! You are welcome.
Shout out to the self timer option on cameras for giving us the ability to take a picture together when no one else is around.
A little more time on the beach, and we would have turned into popsicle sticks. Luckily for us, Andrey and Olesya came to our rescue. They picked us up and we headed to a different location. Oxie was doing most of the actual portrait taking and I was just taking all the behind the scenes pictures and also occasionally getting in the way. Oops.
How cute are they though? Top four couples for sure.
After taking their pictures, we obviously made room to take pictures of each other.
We also asked Andrey to take a picture of the both of us. Everything was going smoothly, we were both standing on a partially frozen rock, looking super cute and silly, then OH SNAP! OXIE IS FALLING! Yup, she fell. And Andrey caught everything on slightly blurry photos. But the moment was there.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, concluded our photo taking evening. We all hopped back into the car and made our plans to return home. Overall, it was a nice little getaway for the few hours that we actually caught the sun for. Sadly, a lot of the snow had already melted away and we didn’t get to capture the white landscape we were hoping to get. Fortunately, according to the weather forecasts, the snowfall season isn’t over and I am staying positive that we will still get our chance before it melts away completely.
But that is all for this adventure, thanks for sticking around, I wish you a very happy New Year and hopefully you made resolutions that are easy enough to accomplish! Until next time!
xoxo Ollie ❤
